Writing
At HFNIS, we want to empower our children with the skills needed to be able to share and communicate their ideas in a variety of ways. This includes verbally, as well as through mark-making and writing activities.
Our children explore writing through engaging writing sequences, build on their prior understanding and learn to evaluate their own successes.
We want children to develop automaticity in transcription (spelling and handwriting) to remove barriers to composition, allowing children to feel success in their writing.
Writing is a crucial skill that is embedded across all year groups, with consolidation of fine motor skills, phonics strategies and early composition of ideas, working towards confidence and independence in writing by the time they leave Year 2.
