Our Reception provision is built on the belief that every child is a capable, curious learner with the potential to thrive. We create a nurturing, inspiring environment where children feel safe, valued and excited to explore the world around them.
Guided by the principles of the Curiosity Approach, our classroom is rich in authentic, open-ended resources that spark imagination, creativity and independent thinking. Carefully designed spaces encourage children to investigate, question and discover through play, enabling deep engagement and sustained curiosity.
We are ambitious for every child. Through high-quality interactions, purposeful play and carefully planned experiences, we develop strong foundations in communication, language, early reading, writing and mathematics. We prioritise vocabulary, storytelling and meaningful talk so children become confident communicators and enthusiastic learners.
Our curriculum balances child-initiated exploration with thoughtfully guided teaching. Adults observe, listen and respond to children’s interests, extending learning through skilful questioning, modelling and shared thinking. In this way, children develop resilience, independence and a love of learning.
We value the partnership between school and home, recognising families as children’s first educators. By working together, we ensure every child leaves Reception confident, curious and well prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.
